SCU 215kWh Solar Storage Powers Africa’s Rural Electrification

215kWh Solar Battery Storage Systems Promote African Rural Electrification

Amid the global energy transition, many regions in Africa still face challenges from insufficient power supply and unstable power grids. Recently, SCU successfully provided two 100kW/215kWh commercial and industrial energy storage systems and an isolation transformer to a rural community in Nigeria. These systems were deeply integrated with the existing local photovoltaic power generation system, creating an efficient and reliable integrated solar energy storage solution.

Background

Nigeria, Africa’s most populous country, faces significant challenges in rural electrification. Many villages still lack reliable electricity, relying heavily on diesel generators or even having no electricity at all. With the falling cost of solar energy and the government’s aggressive promotion of renewable energy, solar + energy storage systems have become an effective solution for improving energy access. However, due to low grid coverage, unstable power supply, and the intermittent nature of solar power generation, high-performance commercial energy storage systems are crucial for providing stable and continuous power in off-grid and weak-grid areas.

215kwh Battery Storage Solution

SCU provided two 100kW/215kWh commercial energy storage systems and an isolation transformer to a rural community in Nigeria. The energy storage system, integrated with the existing solar photovoltaic system, stores excess solar energy generated during the day and releases it at night or on cloudy days. The system also supports intelligent load management and backup power, ensuring continuous, clean electricity for local residents.
