SCU EVMS ONE Battery Assisted EV Chargers in Europe

Battery Assisted EV Charging Enables High Power Fast Charging on Weak Grids Across Europe

SCU has provided 24 pcs EVMS ONE battery assisted EV chargers for an for a European project, addressing challenges commonly faced in high power EV charging, such as limited grid capacity, high infrastructure costs, and site inflexibility. These battery assisted EV chargers are designed to deliver 120 kW charging power with a 240 kWh integrated battery, enabling fast and reliable charging even in locations where conventional chargers would require costly grid upgrades and permanent civil works.

Each EVMS ONE unit also delivers substantial financial and operational savings. On-site battery storage allows operators to avoid costly grid upgrades (€150,000–€500,000 per site) and achieve peak shaving, reducing demand charges by 20–40%, equivalent to €4,500–€22,000 saved per year per EV charger. Charging batteries during off-peak hours and discharging during high-tariff periods can further cut electricity costs, bringing total annual savings per unit to €15,000–€60,000, depending on usage and local rates.

EVMS ONE charger helping reduce grid upgrades for EV charging operators

Expanding EV fast charging shouldn’t be limited by grid constraints. Traditional EV chargers often demand major grid reinforcements, extensive civil works, and fixed locations, which increase deployment time and costs. EVMS ONE overcomes these limitations by providing minimal grid dependency, full relocatability, and plug-and-play deployment, allowing operators to respond quickly to changing demand.

By combining battery energy storage, smart power management, and high power charging in one compact unit, EVMS ONE enables operators to serve underserved areas, temporary sites, or weak grid regions, optimize energy costs, and accelerate ROI. The deployment of 24 units in the Czech Republic demonstrates how battery assisted, grid independent EV chargers provide a practical, cost effective solution for expanding fast charging infrastructure in Europe.
