Hybrid Generator Battery System Green Solution

According to the customer’s situation, SCU provided a 215kWh energy storage container, which was combined with the customer’s existing diesel generator to form a BESS-DG Off-grid Green Solution. The excess power of the diesel generator is used to charge the battery, which then supplies power to the load, thus reducing the use time of the diesel generator, improving economic benefits and reducing environmental pollution.

How does the hybrid generator battery system work?

The BRES energy storage system achieves seamless collaboration with the diesel generator, adopts intelligent control logic, and automatically adjusts the working mode according to the battery SOC (state of charge):

  • Battery SOC is greater than 80%

The energy storage system operates in VF (Voltage and Frequency) mode.
At this time, the battery power is sufficient, and the energy storage system shuts down the diesel generator through the dry contact signal, independently supplies power to the site load, ensures that the diesel generator is completely shut down, and saves fuel.

  • Battery SOC is less than 20%.

The energy storage system operates in PQ (Power and Reactive Power) mode.
The battery power is low, and the energy storage system starts the diesel generator through the dry contact signal and switches to PQ mode at the same time. The diesel generator gives priority to supplying power to the site load and uses the remaining power to charge the battery until the battery SOC returns to normal levels.

This intelligent collaborative work realizes efficient cooperation between the diesel generator and the energy storage system, reduces the generator operation time, and reduces fuel consumption and equipment loss.
